Due to our ongoing RI VeloSprints fundraiser, most of our regular members will be occupied with helping out. We will NOT be holding official meetings at our regular time. Instead, come join us for a sprint night and we can talk about our various projects and activities while waiting for our turn to ride on the bikes.
The next roller sprint evening is Monday, January 11th. Check out the RI VeloSprints site for full details. Hope to see you there!

If you didn’t join us last night for our advocacy meeting, you missed out on a great meeting! We had a lively discussion about the proposed three-foot legislation and whether or not it would help cyclists in any way. Those in attendence were generally in agreement that the current laws pertaining to cyclists don’t really provide us much protection and that cyclists have not proactively worked to make changes for the better.
The group as a whole made a pledge not to drop this issue and to keep the current momentum. You will be hearing more on this blog, please engage in the process. We will need the input, concerns, and support of all cyclists in the state in order to effectively make any change to the current laws.
Thanks again to Lori DiBiasio and Frank’s mother Sandra for attending last night and getting this advocacy effort start. It’s now time for the cyclists to take the reigns and fight for laws that make sense. The time and conditions are ripe for eco-friendly modes of transportion. Let’s make 2009 the year of the bicycle in RI!

Save the date: March 5th @ 6pm on the Brown Campus in MacMillan Hall room 115
We are planning to hold a “town hall” type discussion of the proposed Three Foot Rule legislation. If you are a cyclist and ride the roads, then I would strongly encourage you to attend this meeting and voice your opinion about the merits of this bill. I’m trying to arrange for Lori DiBiasio, the force behind pushing this proposed legislation, to attend the meeting as well. The RI Judiciary will most likely consider this bill sometime in March, so this is your chance to sound off in a public forum prior to when the proposed legislation will be formally considered.
If you plan to attend, please drop us a note so that we can arrange for a room of appropriate size.
