Monday Bike Trains
Are you thinking about bicycle commuting, but just haven’t gotten around to it? Do you have concerns about trying bicycle commuting on your own? New for 2009, the Providence Bicycle Coalition is proud to announce the start of our Monday Bike Trains project.
During the months of May, June, and July we have experienced bicycle commuters who have kindly volunteered to lead bicycle trains into providence. What’s a bicycle train? It’s a ride that starts at a predetermined location, follows a predetermined route, and passes, to the best of our ability, certain locations at specified times. If you’ve been thinking about trying bicycle commuting, but don’t want to try it alone, hop on one of the PBC Monday Bike Trains!
We are starting the program off with three routes:

Anyone interested in trying bicycle commuting is encouraged to join one of our trains. All trains leave promptly at the times indicated on the map.
The East Bay (Blue) bike train departs from Independence Park in Bristol @ 7am. The majority of the ride is on the East Bay Bike Path, so it’s a great route for those just getting started with bicycle commuting.
The Blackstone River (Green) bike train departs from The Visitors Center off I-295 @ 6:30am. About half of this ride is on the Blackstone River Bike Path, but the later half is on streets approaching Providence.
The West Greenwich (purple) bike train departs from The Park n Ride at Exit 7 off I-95 @ 7am. About half of this ride is along the bike path, with the remainder on roads.

Times at which we anticipate the trains will reach different locations along the route are indicated by place markers. If you have questions, you can email the leaders with questions.
